Marfa is a magical mecca for modern art in the West Texas desert. Unlikely? A little bit. Donald Judd immigrated there from New York in the 70′s, acquiring old ranches, military forts and other old west type buildings and reclaiming them with his art. Since his death in the 90′s, tons of artists have continued to trek to Marfa, or live there. Enter El Cosmico. It’s like a hotel of sorts, but the rooms are these nifty Airstream trailers. Last weekend Magda took a carload of knitting and friends to dress up one of the trailers.
So yeah – if you’re looking for an escape anytime soon, go stay in the knitta’d Airstream! Check out El Cosmico’s Trans-Pecos Festival of Music and Love coming up on September 24-25.
