the dubai trip

with edits

Dubai was everything I expected it be and so much more. Indoor skiing, skydiving, and scuba diving are definitely over the top. Man made islands are CRAZY. And Emirate women are now some of my favorite people in the world….

Admittedly I had my preconceived notions about them which soon withered away as I met women who were business owners, web designers, kite boarders, basketball players, and all around bad asses. I watched in awe at times.

I was there for a week to help with a community driven project. I was impressed. They even wrapped a bus which I haven’t seen any one do since I did in Mexico City.

I can’t take much credit for this. They had it down.

I’ll resist posting the 25 pics of food except this one of me taking pics of my food.

We are already working on the next big project and I can’t wait to share…..

Jealous Curator and Fancy Thai

If you don’t know about this blog yet, then you will be so thankful you do now. Imagine what a pleasant surprise it was to see myself featured on one of my favorite blogs. There is some serious mutual admiration going on here.

AND…….I have a new piece I did recently…. almost too small to brag about but here goes…If you live in Austin check out Sway Thai.

i’m still jealous of magda sayeg
02.04.2013

I’m sure you all know of American artist/knitta Magda Sayeg, the queen of knit-bombing, {I showed this bus in 2009, and I’ve seen her work featured all over the place} but today I saw this video for the very first time:

I don’t know how to knit, but watching this on a Sunday afternoon made me want to make stuff. Colorful, happy stuff. Right now!!! I love it when I feel like that. So, ok, off I go to make stuff. See you there?

Happy December 2, 2013

via colossal

EDIT: So delightful to make a case in point about being sluggish to starting the new year; I meant to title this post , Happy January 2nd… AACK! (me identifying with a Cathy comic these days)

Is it just me, or is everyone moving a little slow to get the new year started?? Maybe that is why I like this video of fire works in reverse so much.

If I could just press the rewind button for a bit or at least push the pause button on my life for a minute…..sigh.

Nothing really happens for me until the Twilight Zone marathon is over which I have watched for too many years to admit. And then it’s all about the juices and exercise…..but it’s so cold outside I could almost convince myself a good layer of fat will keep the body warm? That could only work if I plan on living in these sweat pants for the winter.

Aside from my whining, I am looking forward to 2013. This is the year I will break ground on  this huge house remodel….pictures to follow.

AND it is my last year of my 30s which I can’t help but be a little sentimental about, and be determined to make great things happen, and and and start planning the best 40th birthday celebration ever.

a few more on my list of resolutions:

blog more, read more, write more, cook more…

EL TONTO!

I am a proud sister today…

My brother Ben Sayeg was chosen to be part of ” A Short Film Series with Roman Coppola” for his script “El Tonto!”

He went to Mexico City and this is what he came back with.

Also if you haven’t had enough of the gleaming big sister side of me, please check out

” Something about Aunt Mary”

That’s when I knew there was something odd about him…

Handsome Walter

This is Walter….staring out at the beautiful lake. Lugano was amazing. I need to devise a plan to get back there in winter. Apparently it is a whole other set of beauty…and fondue and raclette is served then…yuuuummmm.

I literally just finished a project in Taipei, Taiwan. If things keep turning out this good, summer of 2012 may just be the best summer ever….

I’ll post pics soon…for now…check out this portrait made out of little hello kitty stickers! I want a self portrait, PLEASE!

Discoteca Rustica

I know what I am doing tonight!

Aside from ravin with the locals, we actually did get some work done.

Here is a sneak peak….This is Carlos, our assistant, who also works at the hotel. I can’t tell if he thinks I am nuts or enjoys the change of pace by working with us. maybe both.

After lunch, we were caught in the rain which turned into a great opportunity to see a little bit of this town.

This tunnel is completely covered in local newspaper. It was done by 2 women from here. It took them 2 months and a team of 6. It’s pretty amazing and is probably one of the coolest places to throw a party.

other noteworthy installations….

So today may be a wash as far as work is concerned, but I’m totally thrilled to see how cool this town is….

even the McFlurry looks pretty tasty!

no worries though.. I wouldn’t let myself go to a McD’s in Europe. I’ll see what Cafe Trani has to offer instead.

Imagehow could I resist, right??
I am on the first leg of a 16 flight trip. I hope that means I will have many stories to tell…. so far so good.
I landed in Lugano and was greeted by this adorable person holding this sign up.

We are staying at the WALTER hotel which is where the installation will take place…poor Walter…he has no clue what’s in store for him this week.

This is our view from hotel room. INSANE!
This is the most beautiful place in the world ( note: apparently I say that about every beautiful place I have been to.)
