It has been less than a week since I was gazing at gondolas…..and now I am on a road trip though the heart of Texas! I was invited to talk about my work at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas….which ( I found out ) is the oldest town in Texas. Being that this is my home state, I was more than a little curious. Stopping for bolied peanuts on the side of the road confirmed that this was going to be a very good trip.
We stumbled upon these lovely girls at a local restaurant. I asked if I could take their picture, and they were instantly ready to strike their pose. The university mascot is the lumberjack, so their cheerleaders are (naturally?) the Lady Jacks.
There was a screening of Handmade Nation after my slideshow at the Cole Art Center.
I’m usually much better at this but Italy wiped me out! So I was only able to leave this in the gallery.
What could be more American than a Veteren’s Day Parade??? I thought it couldn’t get better than boiled peanuts and Lady Jacks, but this took the….. cherry pie.
